Sailing Barge Westmorland departs Lower Halstow for the final time

SB Westmorland was towed from Lower Halstow this afternoon by the tug Sir Hendrik. It is understood that the floating dry dock that has been home to SB Westmorland is being taken to Milton Creek to be used for the refit of SB Raybel.

Sadly this presumably marks the final demise of the Westmorland that has deteriated since being brought to Lower Halstow. Following a failed National Lottery bid, Westmorland, in its dry dock has sat on a mooring in Halstow Creek. The dry dock has sunk on several occasions in bad weather, with a considerable amount of the barge being lost.
