Membership Renewal and AGM
Soon we will be sending out reminders for your membership renewal for the 2021 year. Many of you are aware that we now have the membership renewal form on the website and thank you to all of you that have used it over the last couple of years. Those of you that haven’t used it, the online form is very simple to use. There have been some improvements to the website that has made it a little faster. If you haven’t logged in for a time please ensure you can get in and we can resolve any password issues in advance.
With the Covid-19 restrictions we are not able to leave paper forms for collection from the club.
Dealing with membership renewal takes up a lot of time for those of us on the committee administering the annual renewal. By filling in the online form, you save us a huge amount of time compared to dealing with paper forms. Just as time consuming is, we have had a few members in the past that have just paid money with no form. We are required by privacy and revenue legislation to maintain annual records. A completed form is a record of you giving permission for us to store your data and process your membership renewal. Without a completed form we cannot process your membership.
Please use the bank details shown on the renewal form and in the acknowledgement email you will receive, not the account that is used for storage ashore etc. The club has two accounts. Membership fees go into the deposit account that pays the bigger bills, ground rent, Peel Ports fees etc, whereas the current account (storage fees) pays for the maintenance and day to day running of the club.
Dave Quigley is standing down from the Committee this year, so there will be no local drop off for any paper forms or payments. Any paper forms will have to be posted, so please save yourself and us time by filling in the form online. Likewise, cheques will have to be posted, and then manually banked by a committee member, whereas Bank Transfers will be near on instantaneous into the club account.
We know some members may be suffering hardship due to the current situation, if you are having problems, please let us know and we can try and come to some sort of arrangement.
If you do not intend to renew your membership, please let us know. The club is currently full and we have a number of prospective members on a waiting list.

All members should have received a notification of the AGM for the 2020 year on 29th January 2021. We are constitutionally required to hold an AGM in December or January.
This year with social distancing and with whatever rules that are in place by January, this will not possible in the normal format. We have decided that the meeting will be held over Zoom.
Many of you have probably used Zoom to keep in touch with family and friends over these difficult times. Those of you who haven’t, it is quite easy to use. Ideally, all you need is a computer, tablet or smart phone to be able to join the meeting. Video isn’t essential and even if you do have video it can improve performance to turn off the video on slower connections. We will be using the Zoom Pro service which will enable members to dial in if you don’t have a suitable device. You will also be able to use a telephone for the audio if you don’t have speakers and a microphone on your computer.
For anyone unfamiliar with Zoom, we could hold a trial session in January where you can test your device before the AGM.
We will send out joining details nearer the time, along with the minutes of last year’s meeting and current balance sheet for 2020.
Have as good Christmas as is possible under these current restrictions, and here’s hoping that 2021 will start getting back to closer to normal than we have all experienced during 2020.
