Notices to Mariners Week 48 – Notices to Mariners for the Southern East Coast of the UK and across to France, Belgium and part of Holland

UKHO Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary

1. ADMIRALTY CHARTS TO BE PUBLISHED 13 DECEMBER 2018 - New Edition of ADMIRALTY Leisure Folio Thames Estuary - Essex and Suffolk Coast. SC5607 12th Edition - A new edition of Leisure Chart Folio SC5607. All sheets have been fully updated for New Editions and Notices to Mariners affecting source charts.
2. ENGLISH CHANNEL - Radio reporting lines. Legends. - This Notice deals with the radio reporting lines for Dover and also another zone beyond where I monitor. The list of UKHO charts has very slightly adjusted lat/long so if noting UKHO charts, please refer to the full NtM on the list - I regret most to the ‘reporting lines’ are out of the monitored area and therefore I cannot include a useful image. (http://www.crossingthethamesestuary.com/page9.html);
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - Three additional reduced depths in the Holm Channel. The earlier NtM 4128 notified adjacent reduced depths so I have added the latest to the image to show a complete record. The three new soundings are indicated by arrows.
4. ENGLAND - East Coast - NM Block. Mooring buoys. Dolphins. Obstructions. Lights. Fouls. - A collection of eclectic changes on waterside structures in Gravesend Reach. #1. A UKHO block for Chart 1186 illustrating East Tilbury Jetty and environs. #2. 2. Adjacent to the Tilbury Cruise Terminal: a diverse collection of changes prompting reaching for the Symbols book! This involves changing two mooring buoys for a FOUL, a minor light for a Dolphin, a Dolphin for a minor light and a ruin dolphin for an Obstruction! Have fun!
5. NETHERLANDS - Wind farm. Restricted areas. - An emendation to the border of the Rentel Wind Farm. The impact is that the east border has extended very slightly. Frankly little difference to see!
6. BELGIUM - Wind turbines. - The previous Notice and this notice both talk about the Rentel Wind Farm but is described ‘Netherlands – Wind Farm’ in the first and ‘Belgium-Wind turbines’ in the second. But it has some logic: the eastern border of the wind farm abuts to Dutch waters. This Notice repeats part of Notice 5513(P) in the previous week citing Turbines G1, G5 and A4 for the large scale chart.
7. ENGLAND - East Coast - Buoy. - The Temporary Notice is repeating the local Ramsgate NtM notified in the Temporary list a couple of weeks past. Ramsgate No 1 is unlit. Obviously repairs are not immediate!
8. BELGIUM - Measuring instrument. Buoy. - But for the want of a figure this could have been a palindromic latitude and longitude. Special buoy very close to the Buitenstroombank north cardinal off Oostende.
9. ENGLAND - East Coast - Fog signal. - A simple change of Fog signal from ‘Whis’ to ‘Bell’ on the Knob Safe Water Mark at the junction twix the Knob Channel, the Oaze Deep and Knock John Channel.
10. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - One reduction of depth at the top of the Newcombe Sand (adjacent to the Lowestoft South Road);
