Middelburg and Oostende

Three very enjoyable days in Middelburg, a day wandering around the restored town and a 10 mile walk to Veere.

Tuesday we headed South, out of the canal and a very lively sail to Oostende (Belgium). The wind picked up and a very fast sail with Jeddo reaching 10kts at times with 7 & 8 kits most of the way.

On returning from a walk around Oostende we were joined by a group of Belgium Customs Officers. Who asked permission to come aboard and inspect ours and the ships papers, and a fuel check.

After a very friendly chat and examination of all the correct documents they departed wishing us a safe onward passage, without checking the fuel (which is all legal). So much for the reported aggressive attitude to catch out UK boats with Red Diesel!
